William L. Barr

William L. Barr, 85, formerly of Butler passed away April 29 at his home in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., after a brief illness.

Born Aug. 1, 1933, in Butler, he was a son of Leslie Barr and Margaret (Toner) Barr.

William graduated from Butler High School in 1951.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, having served as sergeant during the Korean War and the Vietnam War.

He was an avid sports fan, especially of the Pittsburgh Steelers.

He also enjoyed spending time with his family and reminiscing about his early days in Butler.

He loved the old Hot Dog Shop in Butler.

Surviving are his wife, Teresa (Bonanno) Barr; his son, William (Linda) Barr of Latrobe; his granddaughter, Michele; his three stepsons of Florida; several stepgrandchildren and stepgreat-grandchildren and stepgreat-great-grandchildren of Florida; two sisters, Peggy Fatigati of Virginia and Ruth Kaufman of Florida; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Also surviving is his special friend, Penny of Florida.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Robert T. Barr; his sister, Martha L. Sychak; his nephew, Thomas; and his great-nephews, Matthew and John.

BARR — A celebration of the life of William L. Barr, who died Monday, April 29, 2019, will be held at a later date.
