Reported threat taken seriously, appreciated

SLIPPERY ROCK — The accusation turned out to be untrue — unproven, anyway — but taken seriously and appreciated by authorities.

Pennsylvania state police responded Wednesday to Slippery Rock Middle School for a report of possible threats made by a juvenile student. After a thorough investigation, troopers determined that no threat had been made by the juvenile.

But instead of questioning the report, authorities defended it.

“The state police take a serious approach to school safety and investigates all reports of possible threats to the safety of schools,” the state police said in a statement, encouraging students and others to remain “alert for possible threats to the safety of the schools and report any possible threats and suspicious communication or activity.”

Any suspicious activity can be reported to police at 1-844-saf2say (844-723-2729).
