John R. Eckert Jr.

John R. Eckert Jr., 39, of Franklin Township, Butler, passed away unexpectedly Thursday morning at his residence.

John was born in Butler on Oct. 29, 1979. He was a son of John R. and Charlene M. (Herold) Eckert Sr.

Before he became disabled, John was a landscaper and took great pride in the work he had done.

He loved his family, especially his children and his granddaughter and enjoyed being a part of their lives.

He attended the Presbyterian Church of Prospect.

John enjoyed the outdoors and could often be found hiking the trails in McConnells Mill State Park and Moraine State Park area. He enjoyed participating in basketball, football and soccer games. John was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan.

John showed great determination fighting against a long battle with diabetes and kidney disease.

John is survived by his parents, John R. and Charlene M. Eckert Sr. of Butler; two children, Sierra M. Eckert of Clintonville and Dustin R. Eckert of Hilliards; his granddaughter, Briella E. Premdas of Clintonville; a special buddy, Jayden M. Oesterling of Parker; his maternal grandmother, Betty Herold of Prospect; a brother Dustin L. Eckert of Millersburg, Ohio; a nephew, Caleb C. Eckert; along with many aunts, uncles and cousins.

John was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Edward and Jewell Eckert; and his maternal grandfather, Clarence W. Herold Jr.

ECKERT — Family and friends of John R. Eckert Jr., who died Thursday, March 28, 2019, may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Edward L. Raisley Funeral Home, 387 Main St., Prospect, and from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at the church before the funeral service.A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday at the Presbyterian Church of Prospect, 115 Church St., Prospect, with the Rev. Steve Cort and the Rev. Ron Schermerhorn co-officiating.John will be laid to rest at the Crown Hill Cemetery.Please visit www.raisleyfuneralhome.com to leave an online tribute.
