CONNOQUENESSING TWP — Two accidents took place Thursday evening on Evans City Road less than a mile apart.

A young pedestrian was struck by a truck and seriously injured about 6 p.m., according to Pennsylvania State Police, who investigated at both scenes.

State police said the juvenile girl and her two friends passed through two stopped vehicles in the westbound lane, when a GMC Sierra traveling east struck the girl with the front-end of the truck.

Police said the girl's two friends crossed the street safely.

Police said the girl was struck with enough force that her body was thrown about 20 yards by the impact.

Butler Ambulance took the girl to Butler Memorial Hospital for treatment, and Connoquenessing Township Volunteer Fire Department assisted at the scene.

About 3/4 of a mile southwest on Evans City Road, a man driving a Chevy S10 rear-ended a Chevy Trailblazer, which jolted the Trailblazer into the back of a Ford F-150, according to Lt. Tom “Tex” Vrabely of the Connoquenessing Township fire department.

Vrabely said one woman sustained minor injuries in the crash.

“She was the one rear-ended,” Vrabely said.

Vrabely said the department's main workforce were rerouted to the scene of the three car accident with a smaller contingency sent to the struck pedestrian.

Traffic around the three-car accident was restricted for about an hour until the vehicles were towed from the scene.

Butler Township Volunteer Fire District assisted on the scene of the latter, and Butler Ambulance transported the injured woman.
