Carol A. Landis
Carol A. Landis, 73, of Butler passed away on Thursday at Butler Memorial Hospital.
She was born Sept. 2, 1945, in DuBois, and was a daughter of the late Alex F. Miller and the late Clara Smith Miller.
Carol worked as a dietitian at Butler Memorial Hospital until retiring in 2009.
Shortly thereafter, she got involved with the Community Health Clinic, where she worked part-time until her death.
She was a member of Saint Andrews United Presbyterian Church, where she was a deacon and also played in the bell choir.
Carol was active in the Soroptimist International Society of Butler County, where she was past president and current treasurer.
Carol helped with the community dinners and was vice president of Meals on Wheels. She was on the VNA Committee for Professional Advancement and a member of the Rodfathers Car Club. Carol participated in the 200 Freedom Celebration Butler County and the Fall Literary Club of Butler.
She enjoyed painting and cross-stitch. Carol was a seamstress and liked to sew.
She is survived by her husband, David Landis, whom she married on Aug. 23, 1969; one son, Christopher (Gretchen) Landis of Irwin; two sisters, Nancy (Don) Mackey of Butler, and Janet (David) McClain of Ohio; and three grandchildren, Charlotte, Max and Luke Landis, whom she loved dearly.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, David Miller.
LANDIS — Friends of Carol A. Landis, who died Thursday, March 14, 2019, will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday and from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday in Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E. North St., Butler.Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Saint Andrews United Presbyterian Church, 201 E. Jefferson St., Butler, with the Rev. Merry Meloy officiating.
