Phyllis Sybil Harbaugh Thompson

Phyllis Sybil Harbaugh Thompson, 97, of Saxonburg passed away on Friday at the Good Samaritan Hospice.

Born July 31, 1921, in Fayette City, Pa., she was the daughter of John Randall Harbaugh and Lena Lenora Glasgow Harbaugh.

Phyllis was a 1938 graduate of Tarentum High School.

She also was a 1942 graduate of Allegheny Valley Hospital School of Nursing.

She worked as an RN for many years at Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh, Allegheny Valley Hospital, Capitol Hill General Hospital in Oklahoma City, Good Samaritan Hospital in Yankton, S.D., and Concordia Lutheran Home in Cabot.

She was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Sarver for more than 60 years.

She was a 50-plus year member of the Rose Croix Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star in Ravena, Nev.

She was an inductee into the Pennsylvania Voter Hall of Fame, having voted in every general election for over 50 years, and she also was a member of the Saxonburg Golden Agers.

She loved her family and her sisters. She was grateful for many friendships, among the longest was with her sister-in-law, Frances Thompson. She was grateful for many good and helpful neighbors.

She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles and lunching with friends and family.

Surviving are her son, Clair E. “Gene” Thompson Jr. of Phoenix, Ariz.; her daughters, Nancy Jean Thompson (James) Monsour of Oakmont, and Lynne Thompson Graham of Cranberry Township; and her granddaughter, Katelyn T. Graham of Cranberry Township; three sisters, Betty Jean Bobella of Home, Pa., Mary Lou Sebastian of Pittsburgh, and Ruth Gentile of Tarentum; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Clair E. Thompson Sr., who died Aug. 28, 1987; an infant son, David Lynn Thompson; and her brothers, Jack Harbaugh and William Harbaugh.

The family would like to offer many thanks to Good Samaritan Hospice, in particular Nadine, Amy and Brenda; and Mom's caregivers, Kayla, Ruth and Dawn.

THOMPSON — There will be no visitation for Phyllis Sybil Harbaugh Thompson, who died Friday, March 8, 2019.A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 30, 2019, at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 210 Westminster Road, Sarver, with the Rev. Robin Swinsburg officiating.Interment will follow in Westminster Cemetery.Fox Funeral Home, 410 W.
