CRANBERRY TWP — More than 200 fish made their way to the Scout Centennial Fishing Pond in Graham Park Monday morning, transported in white buckets via golf cart.

Grounds crew members poured buckets of bluegill, crappies and largemouth bass into the pond for its annual stocking, marking the unofficial start of fishing season at Graham Park.

Public works director Jason Dailey said they have been stocking the pond for the past few years and have seen a good response from residents.

“We see kids on social media posting pictures of fish they caught,” he said. “We feel this is a good amount of fish for this pond.”

Anyone 16 years old or older will need a fishing license to catch fish in the pond. A license costs $22.90 and can be found online or at area sporting goods stores.

Fish caught at the pond are to be released quickly and as painlessly as possible, according to posted rules. “To accomplish that, fishing needs to be done using barbless hooks,” a release from the township states. The township encourages those fishing in the pond to do their best not to injure the fish while releasing them.

The pond and park are open to the public with no entry fee.
