Police: Drugs found inside pants
A Venango County man is accused of sneaking drugs and other items into the Butler County Prison.
The stash — two dozen pills, measuring spoons and a scale — were uncovered in the man's underwear, authorities said.
State police Friday charged Michael A. Conner, 25, of Emlenton with a felony count of bringing a controlled substance into the prison.
The incident happened Dec. 3, police said, the same day that a trooper arrested Conner in Parker, Armstrong County, on a bench warrant out of Venango County.
Police took him to the Butler County Prison for the warrant. He subsequently was charged in Armstrong County with felony and misdemeanor drug possession in connection with the Dec. 3 arrest.
Before Conner was turned over to prison authorities in Butler County, troopers asked him if he had any other drugs or illegal items on him, police said. He told them he did not.
But when correctional officers searched the defendant, according to charging documents, they found 24 suspected Xanax pills, five small measuring spoons and an electric scale hidden in his underwear.
He was taken to the Venango County Jail on Dec. 5 in connection with the warrant, authorities said.
He is in the Armstrong County Prison on $10,000 bail stemming from the drug charges in the Dec. 3 arrest.
