A statewide policy change will give Slippery Rock University more control over tuition rates.

The State System of Higher Education's board of governors on Thursday adopted the change allowing SRU and the other individual PASSHE member schools to develop tuition plans, although the board retains final approval authority.

The universities also will announce tuition in April instead of July, giving students a few more months' notice about increases.

“We're already starting down that road,” SRU President William Behre said. “We'll just hit all four cylinders.”
