[naviga:h3]Classes begin for Parkinson’s patients[/naviga:h3]

A fitness and mobility program designed for people with Parkinson’s disease will be offered beginning Monday.

Classes will be led by Jenna Molczan, DPT, staff physical therapist at Fyzical Therapy & Balance Center, who is certified as a OhioHealth Delay the Disease instructor.

The program improves the physical, mental and emotional realities of Parkinson’s patients. Classes will be offered from 10:30 to 11:15 a.m. Mondays and Thursdays at Fyzical’s 601A Pittsburgh Road facility.

OhioHealth Delay the Disease participants experience improvement in mobility, posture, balance, handwriting, speech volume and a reduction in daily functional challenges, according to David Zid, a Parkinson’s fitness specialist and an OhioHealth director of movement disorder and musculoskeletal wellness. The classes are a source of fun, social camaraderie and hope, he said.

[naviga:h3]Residents offered free paper shredding[/naviga:h3]

State Rep. Jim Marshall, R-14th, is hosting a paper shredding event April 13 for people who want to destroy documents to avoid identity theft.

The event will be from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Chippewa Municipal Building in Beaver County.

Tron City Workplace Services will provide free on-site shredding of paper and cardboard, Marshall said. Large binder clips and hardbound covers will not be accepted.

There is a limit of two boxes of documents per vehicle. The event, sponsored by Columbia Gas, is for residents and not businesses.
