Central DUI court discussed
JACKSON TWP — Area police and municipal officials held a closed informational meeting Monday night to discuss a proposed initiative to form a centralized court for DUI hearings.
Officials from municipalities across southwest Butler County attended the Monday evening meeting at the Jackson Municipal Building.
Before it began, Jackson Township manager Chris Rearick confirmed that the meeting was held to inform area officials, like himself, about the details of a proposed plan to form a centralized court for DUI hearings and to field any questions or comments officials may have.
Under this proposed centralized system, all DUI hearings would take place at a single centralized court.
Currently, such hearings are held in the district courts in which the charges were filed.
It was not clear who is proposing the new court or who presented details at the meeting.
The meeting became closed to the public upon starting.
