Crash blocks road, school bus
Some of Chicora's elementary school students were unable to take the school bus home Thursday afternoon after a car crash on Chicora-Fenelton and Hildebrand roads blocked the bus route.
Bus 5 was unable to safely navigate the accident scene at the intersection, according to Mike Stimac, the principal and transportation director of the school's Sugar Creek branch.
“It's just a precautionary measure,” Stimac said. He made the announcement after 3 p.m. with an automated call to parents. Stimac estimated that the delay would inconvenience about 25 children.
“We've kept the children with a supervised group and have asked parents to come pick the students up from Chicora Elementary,” Stimac said.
Butler state police confirmed Thursday that they were investigating a crash at the intersection but could not provide any further information, nor would they say if anyone was hurt in the crash.
