Zelie merges parking, Kaufmann lots

ZELIENOPLE — The municipal parking lot and Kaufmann House property were consolidated Monday from nine parcels to two.

During a meeting of borough council, members voted to combine several parcels at those two locations. According to Don Pepe, borough manager, the parking lot consisted of multiple parcels acquired over the years. The subdivision approval protects those properties and allows for consistency, he added.

Pepe noted the plan was given approval by the borough’s planning commission, and county development officials had no objections.

Also Monday, council approved an ordinance containing all borough fees. Pepe said fees for various borough departments were scattered, and the ordinance approved Monday puts them in one place.

Moving forward, portions of that ordinance can be revised if fees are to be changed.

Council also recognized Tom Goldie for five years of service with the borough’s police department.
