Donald J. Dobson of Butler waived his right to a preliminary hearing Monday on felony charges alleging that he sold heroin, which was later determined to be fentanyl, to a police informant.

Dobson, 43, waived his hearing on charges of possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver and delivery of a controlled substance before Magisterial District Judge William Fullerton. The judge reduced Dobson’s bond from $100,000 to $15,000.

The charges stem from a Butler County Task Force investigation that included a controlled drug buy, authorities said.

According to court documents, Dobson sold an unspecified number of stamp bags supposedly containing heroin on Oct. 16 to an informant on Upper Shore Street.

Analysis by the state police crime lab, however, determined that the bags only contained fentanyl.

Butler County court records showed Dobson is already awaiting trial on a 2018 misdemeanor drug possession case.
