James L. Brewster
James L. Brewster, 91, of Butler passed away Saturday at Butler Memorial Hospital.
He was born Nov. 6, 1927, in Butler, and was the son of the late Roland J. Brewster and Nona L. (Yockey) Brewster.
James was a member of St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church.
He graduated in June of 1945 from Butler High School and joined the U.S. Navy. Later, he attended Butler Business College.
He was a member of the Butler Cubs in the late 1940s and taught Sunday school at Grace Lutheran Church.
James worked at Peoples Telephone before working 35 years at Butler Armco.
He was also a member of Victory Lodge 694 and held offices in the York Rite and was past president of Butler Mora Club and a member of the YMCA.
Surviving are his daughter, Nancy and Don Christy, of Butler; two sons, Drew Brewster of Washington, Pa., and Renwick and Dr. Xintian Ming Brewster of New Jersey; a grandson, Maj. Cullen and Dr. Denise Brewster; three granddaughters, Heidi Geroff of Butler, Lia Brewster of Florida, and Carly Brewster of Washington, Pa.; his great-grandchildren, Robert Slater of Butler, and Lumi Brewster of Boston, Mass.; and his companion, Beryl Tait of Butler.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Miriam (Jones) Brewster; his second wife, Doris (Burtner) Brewster; and a brother, Wendell Brewster.
BREWSTER — Friends of James L. Brewster, who died Saturday, Feb. 16, 2019, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Young Funeral Home, 127 W.
