SUMMIT TWP — A 16-year-old Fayette County boy remains on the loose after a weekend escape from the Summit Academy.

State police said Branson Cramer of Smithfield climbed out a window at the reform school on Herman Road in Summit Township around 10 p.m. Saturday and fled.

The school sent out a text notification that the student escaped. The text alert suggested nearby residents to lock their doors and cars, and not to interact with the student.

Troopers and facility staff searched for the boy, but to no avail.

Cramer is described as white, 5-foot-10-inches tall and 140 pounds. He has dark brown hair “worn longer,” according to a police report and brown eyes. He has a tattoo on his right shoulder.

He was last seen wearing an orange jumpsuit. Police said he was not wearing any shoes and had no jacket when he fled.

A spokesman for the facility did not have any additional information Monday morning.

Summit Academy is a private, residential program for boys and young men, ages 14 to 19, who have committed juvenile and adult criminal offenses.
