James H. Lyon Jr.
James H. Lyon Jr., 93, of Meridian passed away Feb. 7, 2019, at Concordia Lutheran Ministries of Cabot, after a brief illness.
He was born Nov. 4, 1925, in Butler to the late James H. Lyon Sr. and the late Cecelia (Texter) Lyon.
He graduated from Butler High School then served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
On Aug. 18, 1951, he married Emogene (Heasley) Lyon.
Jim worked for Nationwide Insurance, Pullman- Standard and Armco Steel.
He was a member of the Meridian Presbyterian Church and the F&AM Lodge 272 of Butler.
Jim enjoyed traveling, boating, camping, hunting, music and cars.
Jim is survived by his loving wife, Emogene, and their children, Diane Mitinger of Greensburg, Kathleen (Howard) Meinhardt of Brecksville, Ohio, and James C. (Barbara) Lyon of Meridian; his grandchildren, Jennifer (Jared) Moore, Tricia (Brandon Weismann) Rombach, Laura (Michael) Stybel, Leslie (Kyle) Oyler, Brooke Lyon, James (Jace) Lyon; six great-grandchildren; his siblings, Samuel (Shirley) Lyon of Meridian, Alene Campbell of Chicora, and Patricia Burkett of Mesa, Ariz.; his aunt, Grace Lyon, of New Castle; and many extended family members.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Mary Jane (John) Bryant of Meridian; and his uncle, John Lyon of New Castle.
LYON — Friends and family of James H. Lyon Jr., who died Thursday, Feb. 7, 2019, will be received from 3 to 5 p.m. Monday at Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E. North St., Butler.A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Meridian Presbyterian Church, 4150 Highland Ave., Meridian, with Pastor Gary Lyon from Cross Roads Community Presbyterian Church in Leechburg officiating.A private interment will follow at Butler County Memorial Park.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Meridian Presbyterian Church or a charity of your choice.Online condolences can be given at www.thompson-miller.com.
