Gerald Thomas Kelly

Gerald Thomas Kelly, 76, of Worth Township, Slippery Rock, passed away Sunday at the VNA Inpatient Hospice Unit in Butler.

He was born on Kelly Road, Worth Township, Butler County, on May 13, 1942, to Ronald Stephen Kelly Sr. and Alda Marie Gray Kelly.

He married Pauline Marie Wheeler Craig on Feb. 11, 1964.

As a young boy “Jerry” attend Wolf Creek Presbyterian Church and later served in the U.S. National Guard.

He enjoyed all kinds of sports including baseball, bowling, softball and pitching horseshoes.

He loved to work and take care of the farm property.

Jerry was a highly respected heavy equipment operator and had worked for the George Campbell Asphalt Paving Company (Slippery Rock) in all capacities including driving truck, running the paver, and directing the paving crew.

Following his retirement from the Campbell Company, he drove truck and worked in other capacities for both Slippery Rock and Worth Township.

He is survived by his wife Pauline at home; his son, DuWayne M. (Barbara) Craig of Harrisville; his granddaughter, Hannah Craig; his grandson, Caleb Craig; his two brothers, Clifford (Nancy) Kelly of Grove City and Timothy (Mary Jo) Kelly of Slippery Rock; his three sisters, Donna Vargo of Slippery Rock, Kathy Young of Slippery Rock and Emily (Ken) Long of Grove City; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Carol Altmire; and brothers, Ronald Kelly Jr. and Vern Kelly.

KELLY — Family of Gerald Thomas Kelly, who died Sunday, Feb. 10, 2019, will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday and from 10 a.m. Wednesday until the service at 11 a.m. at Smith Funeral Home, 421 New Castle St., Slippery Rock.Interment will be in Wolf Creek Cemetery, Worth Township.Memorial contributions to the donor's choice.
