State police released details Monday about a weekend traffic accident that killed a 37-year-old woman in Concord Township.

Jennifer R. Shoaf of Concord Township was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash about ‪9 p.m. Saturday on Route ‪38 at the intersection Tipple Lane, just south of Hooker Road.

According to a police report, Shoaf was walking at the intersection when she signaled to get the attention of a motorist who was traveling north on Route 38.

The driver passed Shoaf and turned around, heading south to check on her welfare.

Shoaf “staggered and fell into the northbound traffic lane,” the report said.

The driver stopped and tried to signal northbound traffic by flashing high beams.

Shoaf was struck by two northbound vehicles - one driven by a Chicora woman and one by a Butler woman. Both vehicles were traveling the same section of road at the same time. According the police, the second vehicle was traveling directly behind the first.

Police report the drivers were unable to see the woman due to the darkness on the road. Investigators further report Shoaf was dressed in dark clothing, which also made it difficult for motorists to see her at that time of night.

Butler County Coroner William Young III said Shoaf died of blunt force trauma. The police report no charges were filed in the accident.
