A domestic-violence victim asked the court Friday to lift a no-contact condition with the accused attacker — her 30-year-old boyfriend, Bruce Lee Stennett of Butler.

Police arrested Stennett Jan. 9 after the girlfriend told police that she was slapped “so hard” that her hearing aid and glasses were broken from the three impacts to her face. Stennett faces charges of terroristic threats, unlawful restraint, simple assault, harassment and public drunkenness. He has not admitted guilt.

The woman told police that the fight started when she came home from work and found Stennett drunk. When she tried to leave the place, he allegedly grabbed her and threw her on the couch. He then allegedly covered her mouth with one hand and twisted her neck with the other.

“I could end your life right now,” Stennett told the victim, according to a police report.

The victim reported that her neck cracked under the twisting. He allegedly slapped her three times and “between each slap he gave a reason for it,” and then stood her up and told her to be “a man for five minutes.”

She eventually was able to call 911 and when Butler Township Police arrived, Stennett allegedly escaped on a bicycle. Police tracked him to Alameda Park and reported that he was “extremely intoxicated.” Stennett allegedly threw a beer can at the police.

During the confrontation, police reported that they used a Taser gun on Stennett for disobeying orders.

The woman told police that the attack wasn't the first time her boyfriend was physical with her.

However she told county Judge Timothy McCune on Friday that she wasn't afraid of Stennett and she wanted the no-contact condition on his bond to be removed. Looking at the police report, McCune said “it contains an allegation of a pretty violent incident.”

After asking her if she thought she was still in danger, to which she said “no,” McCune granted her request, and she left the courtroom accompanied by Stennett, who is out on a $10,000 bond.
