Driver arrested, faces drug charges
Butler police arrested a suspected drugged driver Thursday afternoon after finding her behind the wheel of a parked car with nearly five dozen bags of suspected heroin inside.
Roshelle R. Dutter-Davenport, 49, of Butler faces felony drug possession and other charges. She is free on $10,000 bail.
Patrolman Andrew Niederlander reported in his affidavit that city officers approached Dutter-Davenport around 4 p.m. in the area of North Main and Jefferson streets after receiving a call about a woman passed out in the driver's seat of a car.
The car was parked on the side of the road with the engine still running when police arrived. They believed the defendant was impaired on drugs.
Officers reported they noticed a crack pipe on the driver's seat Dutter-Davenport got out of the vehicle.
Dutter-Davenport admitted smoking crack earlier in the day and taking the prescription drug Klonopin, according to court documents.
A search of the car, police said, turned up 56 stamp bags of suspected heroin in the center console. A metal spoon with white residue was allegedly found in the driver's side door pocket.
According to court documents, Dutter-Davenport admitted to authorities she had drugs on her person and was taken to Butler County Prison where she was searched. Two pieces of suspected crack in separate baggies were allegedly found on her.
Police subsequently took her to Butler Memorial Hospital. Toxicology results are pending.
District Judge Sue Haggerty arraigned Dutter-Davenport on a felony charge of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance and misdemeanor charges of driving under the influence of a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance.
