CRANBERRY TWP — A shoeless Valencia man allegedly attempted to enter a township home Wednesday night, and now faces extradition to Maryland to face other charges.

Erbert J. Perez-Coronado, 27, is charged with loitering and prowling at nighttime and public drunkenness following the Wednesday incident.

According to the criminal complaint, officers were dispatched at 9:34 p.m. Wednesday to a Robinhood Drive address in the township for an person unknown to the residents attempting to enter the home. The man walked through the yard to the rear of the house and attempted to enter the garage, and then the rear of the home.

Officers identified the man as Perez-Coronado via his Guatemalan passport. According to the complaint, he had the odor of alcohol on his breath and was staggering. He also was wet and muddy and did not have shoes on. He told police he did not know what happened to his shoes, and asked them why he was being questioned.

Perez-Coronado allegedly said that he tried to enter the home, but realized it was not the correct house.

A background search revealed that he had an active warrant in Maryland, making him a fugitive from justice. Authorities in Maryland confirmed they would extradite him from Pennsylvania.

Perez-Coronado was arraigned Wednesday by District Judge Sue Haggarty and is being held in Butler County Prison on a $5,000 monetary bond. A March 8 preliminary hearing is scheduled.
