A jury deliberated Tuesday over a drug case that relied on shaky footage and a drug-dealer-turned informant — after an hour, it found a 32-year-old Butler man guilty of drug charges.

“Is this the system that we're in, that a drug dealer is the smoking gun?” the defense attorney Komron Jon Maknoon said to the jury before the guilty verdict.

State police arrested Thomas W. Stevenson Jr. on July 10, 2017 and charged him with possession of a controlled substance, drug paraphernalia and possession with intent to deliver. The arrest was made after police employed confidential informant to buy heroin from Stevenson in 2015. Stevenson will be sentenced in March and faces around 21 to 27 months, District Attorney Richard Goldinger noted in court.
