Shirley L. Fox, 81, of Butler passed away on Saturday at the Concordia Lutheran Ministries where she lived for the last two years.

She was born March 25, 1937, in Porter Township, and was the daughter of the late William Jay Myers and the late Ethel Maye (Polliard) Myers.

Shirley worked as a registered nurse at Butler Memorial Hospital retiring on Oct. 1, 2000.

She was a member of the Butler Memorial Hospital Nurses Alumnae. Shirley was Nurse of the Year in 1987.

She was a member of Meridian Presbyterian Church.

She enjoyed sewing but most of all, she enjoyed her grandchildren and her family.

She is survived by one son, David Fox and his wife, Rebecca, of Butler; two daughters, Jayanne Cook and her husband, Eric, of Wyoming, Mich., and Marlene Welch and her husband, John, of Indiana, Pa.; 12 grandchildren, Jordan Cook, Caleb Cook, Seth Cook and his wife, Lydia, Ethan Cook and his wife, McKenna, Nolan Fox and his wife, Bethany, Allison Fox, Evaline Fox, Emma Welch, Laura Welch, Jack Welch, Sara Welch and Johanna Welch; two brothers, Donald J. Myers and his wife, Karen, of Rimersburg, and Ronald R. Myers and his wife, Joan, of Butler; two sisters, Gladine E. Botzer of Clarion, and Marcia L. Gathers and her husband, Dan, of Rimersburg; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Rawland D. (Raleigh) Fox, whom she married on June 28, 1958, and who died May 21, 2018.

FOX — Friends of Shirley L. Fox, who died Saturday, Jan. 19, 2019, will be received from 9:30 until 11 a.m. Saturday at Meridian Presbyterian Church, 4150 Highland Ave., Butler.Funeral service will be held immediately following at 11 a.m. at the church with her son-in-law, Pastor Eric Cook officiating.Burial will take place in the St. John's Reformed Church Cemetery.Arrangements were entrusted to Thompson-Miller Funeral Home in Butler.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Meridian Presbyterian Church, 4150 Highland Ave., Butler, PA 16001, or to Seneca Hills Bible Camp, 276 Damascus Road, Polk, PA 16342.Online condolences can be given at www.thompson-miller.com.
