Gwendolyn Jeanne Yelland
Gwendolyn Jeanne Yelland, 85, of Worth Township, Slippery Rock, passed away Friday at Grove Manor in Grove City.
She was born May 9, 1933, in Grove City to Louis Raymond Kiebler and Glennola Dight Kiebler.
She married Norman Lloyd Yelland on Aug. 14, 1953, and he survives at the residence.
Gwen graduated from Grove City High School.
Gwen worked for the Slippery Rock School District, serving in the district office as secretary/treasurer of the cafeteria.
She was active as a member of the North Liberty Presbyterian Church, where she played the church organ for over 47 years. She was a member and treasurer of the Women's Association of the Church and sang in the ACTS choir.
She enjoyed camping at the family camp in East Brady and was exceptional at water skiing.
She loved baking and decorating cakes for family and friends.
Survivors include her husband, N. Lloyd, at home; her son, Kenneth Norman Yelland and his wife, Ginny, of Oxford; her sisters, Verna Mae Smith and her husband, Kenneth, of Charlotte, N.C., and Yvonne Duhl of Huntington Beach, Calif.; her grandchildren, Clover Badger and her husband, Michael, of New Castle, Adam Stewart of Hermitage and Marshall Stewart of Pittsburgh; four great-grandchildren, Julia and Mitchell Badger, and Ronan and Layne Stewart.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Linda Stewart; and her brother, Wayne.
YELLAND — Family of Gwendolyn Jeanne Yelland, who died Friday, Jan. 18, 2019, will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday and from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at Smith Funeral Home in Slippery Rock.Funeral services will be at Smith Funeral Home, 421 New Castle St., Slippery Rock, at 11 a.m. Thursday, with the Rev. Robert McCreight, pastor of North Liberty Presbyterian Church, presiding.Interment will be in Crestview Memorial Park, Pine Township, Mercer County.Memorial contributions may be given to North Liberty Presbyterian Church or Grove Manor Nursing Home.
