Dale Matthew Mahoney
Dale Matthew Mahoney, 70, of Slippery Rock, passed away Friday at UPMC Northwest after suffering a massive stroke.
He was born April 29, 1948, in Sewickley to Lillian C. Fogo, who survives.
Dale served in the U.S. Navy.
He was an active member of the Slippery Rock United Methodist Church where he helped with preparing dinners for the community and also with the day care in the church.
Dale was a very helpful man who went above and beyond for the neighbors in his apartment building. He would always lend a helping hand by taking neighbors to various appointments and making sure they had their groceries.
Recently, Dale obtained his doctoral degree in English from Slippery Rock University. He tutored students in English and proved to be very good at it.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by two sons, Dale Matthew (Katrina) Shook of Georgia and Cory Michael (Tammy) Shook of Pleasantville; one daughter, Tammy Tucker of Oil City; two sisters, Faith (Kevin) Dechant of Franklin and Linda Midock of Tucson, Ariz.; a brother, James (Cathy) Shook of Cary, N.C.; and numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his beloved stepfather, J. Robert Fogo.
