Earl Kenneth Lees

Earl Kenneth Lees

Earl Kenneth Lees, 92, of Harrisville passed away at Grove Manor in Grove City on Wednesday.

Earl was born on Nov. 10, 1926, in Ingomar, Pa., to Samuel Lees Sr. and Jenny Shaw Lees.

He married Donna Lee Hetrick on July 21, 1973.

Earl was enlisted into the U.S. Navy during his senior year at West View High School in 1945. Earl's wartime service included ship repair in the Philippines during World War II.

He later received his bachelor's degree from the University of Pittsburgh.

While at college, Earl enjoyed playing fast-pitch softball in and around Pittsburgh.

Earl ran a successful egg business in Ingomar in the 1950s and 1960s. He and his brothers expanded the business with property in Harrisville. His farming over the years included raising beef cattle, poultry and Tennessee Walking Horses. He also designed, built and operated two 9-hole golf courses, Franklin Park and Valley View.

He liked to stay busy working in his shop. He could fix almost anything and was always looking for ways to make things work better. He had a patent on a fairway mower he designed and built.

He was always willing to help those in need and had the stories to go along with it.

Survivors include his wife, Donna, at home; his daughters, Amanda (Bob) Griffith, Theodora (Scott) Kellogg, Theresa Thomas and Tammy (Craig) Sestric; his son, Frank Sestric; his niece, Jane Lees; his grandchildren, Collin, Katie and Viola Griffith, Shawn Kellogg, and Steven and Ashley Thomas; and his great-granddaughter, Maude Kellogg.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, William, Samuel and Merle; two sisters, Dorothy and Ethel Lees; his niece, Elaine Lees; and a grandson, Eric Kellogg.

We would like to thank everyone at Grove Manor for taking such good care of Earl while he was there. It means the world to us.
