Joyce Agnes Black

Joyce Agnes Black, 83, of Cabot passed away on Wednesday at her residence.

She was born May 19, 1935, in Summit Township and was a daughter of the late John A. Jardin and the late Irene M. Lowry Jardin.

She graduated from Butler High School in 1954.

Joyce was a member of St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church, where she also taught Sunday school.

She was Jefferson Township's judge of elections.

Joyce started out working at Traders Music Store in Butler. She later worked at Saxonburg Bakery and at the bakery in the Friedman's at the Greater Butler Mart. Joyce was a consultant for Sarah Coventry.

She enjoyed gardening and card club.

Joyce is survived by her one son, Clifford (Patricia) Black of Cabot; five daughters, Cynthia (Robert) Gallagher of Cabot, Catherine (Douglas) Miller of Cabot, Connie (companion, Don Smeltzer) Black of Cabot, Carol Freehling of Cabot, and Chrisse (Duane) Keck of Cabot; 12 grandchildren, Michael (Dena) Gallagher, Michelle (Ryan) Rhodes, Robertta (Eric) Williges, Stephanie (John) Barker, Jonathan (Jessica) Gallagher, Corry (Melissa) Freehling, Rebecca (Isaiah) Davenport, Ryan (Kristi) Black, David (Christa) Keck, Nicole (Rich) Messenger, Elizabeth (Josh) Rosensteel and Christopher Goldinger; 19 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Archie R. Black, whom she married on Oct. 6, 1956, and who passed away on Dec. 9, 2009; two sisters; and one brother.

BLACK — Friends of Joyce Agnes Black, who died Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2019, will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E. North St., Butler.Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home with the Rev. Dr. Alden Towberman of St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church officiating.Burial will take place in Greenlawn Burial Estates.Memorials are suggested to St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 201 W.
