Richard G. Fennell

Richard G. Fennell, 90, of Butler passed away Tuesday at the VNA Inpatient Hospice in Butler.

He was born Dec. 16, 1928, in Butler, and was a son of the late Peter Gilbert Fennell and Gertrude (Oesterling) Fennell.

Richard was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, former member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church, former member of 272 Scottish Rite of New Castle and Syria Temple.

He was a well-known songwriter and musician in Florida and had a band in Butler.

Surviving are three sons, George C. Fennell of Pittsburgh, Richard P. Fennell of Saxonburg, and Jay L. Fennell of Butler; 11 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Carol June (Rauschenberger) Fennell, who died June 14, 2015; a sister; and two brothers.
