Janet Jean Garrett

Janet Jean Garrett of Orchard Drive, Prospect, passed away peacefully on Tuesday at her home. She was 74 years young.

Janet was born Jan. 30, 1944, in Sharon, Pa., and was a daughter of the late Weldon Sewell Garrett and Frances Bell Garrett.

She graduated from Wilmington High School in 1962 and Slippery Rock University.

She was a member of Neshannock Presbyterian Church of New Wilmington and taught in the Butler School District for many years.

Janet lived life to the fullest and embraced the philosophy that every meal should start with dessert. She told her family to be sure that her obituary stated that she hated to dust and vacuum, but she loved making fudge and mowing the grass.

Survivors include her two older sisters, Marian Garrett Nelson (G. James) of Grove City, and Margaret Garrett Lutz (Larry) of Volant; her longtime best friend, Ron Mustello and the

Mustello family; and her nieces, nephews and their children, who all treasured her.She was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert William Garrett and Lyle Bell Garrett.GARRETT — Visitation for Janet Jean Garrett, who died Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2019, will be from 11 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Smith Funeral Home, 310 W. Neshannock Ave., New Wilmington. The Rev. William H. Stone Jr., pastor of Neshannock Presbyterian Church will officiate.Memorials may be given to the donors' favorite charity. The family encourages you to honor January as her birthday month by eating lots of cake.
