Charles Ronald Nixon

Charles Ronald Nixon, 87, of Butler passed away Tuesday at the Sunnyview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Butler.

Born Nov. 20, 1931, in Robinson, Pa., he was the son of the late Estelle Nixon.

He retired after 40 years as a crane operator at the former J & L Steel Mill in Hazelwood.

Charles was a U.S. Army veteran, where he proudly served his country as a medic.

He was an outdoorsman, where he enjoyed hunting and shooting guns. He enjoyed and was competitive at golfing, bowling and horseshoes.

He is survived by his wife, Mary L. Hite Nixon, whom he married May 23, 1986; his children and stepchildren, Robert Nixon of Nevada, David Nixon of Arizona, Roger Nixon of Slippery Rock, Charles Randall Nixon of Butler, William E. (Cathy) Monpere Jr. of Connoquenessing, Rose Maria Nixon of Butler, and James Scat Eaton of New Kensington; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents and siblings, he was preceded in death by his stepson, Ronald Monpere.

NIXON — Visitation for Charles Ronald Nixon, who died Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2019, will be from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Edward L.
