Bernadette “Tooty” Lokhaiser

Bernadette “Tooty” Lokhaiser, 79, of Butler passed away Tuesday at the VNA Inpatient Hospice.

Born Dec. 30, 1939, in Weirton, W.Va., she was a daughter of the late Peter and Frances Van Jura.

Tooty was a registered nurse for more than 40 years in Butler, first working at Butler Hospital and then at the Butler VA Medical Center.

She was a member of St. Peter Roman Catholic Church in Butler.

Tooty also volunteered for Meals on Wheels, the VNA Hospice Center and the Butler Health Clinic.

She is survived by her three children, James (Kimberly) Lokhaiser Jr., John (Charlotte) Lokhaiser and Janice (Mark) Benninger; five loving grandchildren, Christopher and Tyler Benninger, Emily Lokhaiser, and Katrina and Patrick Lokhaiser; and two great-grandchildren, Coali Bonus and Kaiya Lokhaiser.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Bernard Van Jura.

LOKHAISER — Friends of Bernadette “Tooty” Lokhaiser, who died Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2019, will be received from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday at Geibel Funeral Home, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler.The Women's Council of St. Peter will meet at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the church to recite the rosary.A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, 127 Franklin St., Butler.
