Chanté Elise Nee
Chanté Elise Nee, 30, of Butler has been freed from her courageous battle with addiction and is now in the loving arms of her Lord. She passed away Monday unexpectedly at her home.
Born May 25, 1988, in Hollywood, Fla., she was the daughter of Kathryn Stephens Nee of Jefferson Township and the late Robert M. Nee.
A 2006 graduate of Freeport High School, she earned her associate degree in psychology from Penn State University.
She began her career path in counseling. Her enthusiasm and love of life was an inspiration to many. Chanté's non-judgmental acceptance of others was evident in how she lived. Despite battling her own addiction, she remained a beacon of hope for others trying to find their way in recovery.
Chanté's faith was very important to her and she was a member of New Life Christian Ministries in Saxonburg. Throughout her life, she was active in a variety of volunteer projects including Hurricane Katrina Mission, Appalachian Ministry and the Pittsburgh soup kitchen. She also was a camp counselor at Camp Lutherlyn. She loved music, she was a high school percussionist and sang in district and church choirs as well.
Most recently, she worked at Diamond Joe's Restaurant, the Butler Country Club and Long John Silver's in Butler.
Chanté is survived by her mother, Kathryn Stephens Nee of Jefferson Township; her mother's fiancé, David Brickell, of Smicksburg; her half brother, Michael Nee of Florida; and her grandfather, Edward Stephens of Buffalo Township.
She is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
In addition to her father, Chanté was preceded in death by her maternal grandmother, Evelyn J. Stephens; her paternal grandparents, William and Louise Nee; and her uncle, Jeffrey Nee.
