ADAMS TWP – A vehicle accident Monday afternoon has closed a portion of Route 228 as police work on a “crime scene.”

A vehicle accident was reported around noon Monday on Route 228 at the Pittsburgh Street and Warrendale Road intersection near Mars.

Route 228 was closed at the Beaver Street Extension and Mars Valencia Road, with traffic re-routed through Mars.

Officers directing traffic at the scene said they could not release any information on the matter, as it was a “crime scene.”

As of 1:30 p.m., the scene appeared to remain untouched, with a vehicle on its roof. Adams Township police and State Police vehicles were on scene.

State Police officials said Adams Township police were handling the accident, but had requested specialized response from the detachment.
