Butler School District schedules 2 makeup days
The Butler School District named two makeup days Thursday.
The days have been scheduled to make up for the two days in November when the district had to close due to power outages from an ice storm.
Superintendent Brian White wrote to the Pennsylvania Department of Education in the days after the storm requesting that the days off be given emergency waivers.
As of Thursday, he has not yet received word from the state, and has opted to go ahead and declare the makeup days for planning purposes, he said.
The makeup days will be Feb. 18 and April 23. Those dates are Presidents Day and the day after spring break, respectively.
If another day is needed, April 18 is designated as a third makeup option.
Per state requirements, the district must be in session for at least 180 days each year.
