This “ghost bikeÓ honoring Aleksander Teimouri was put in place Thursday at the intersection of Rochester and Haine School roads in Cranberry Township. Teimouri was struck by an alleged drunken driver Dec. 26 as he was riding his bicycle home from work on Rochester Road. The “ghost bikeÓ serves as a symbol of remembrance for cyclists who have died, and aim to remind drivers to be attentive of those on bikes. A memorial ride in Teimouri´s honor is scheduled for 12:30 p.m. Sunday departing from Graham Park, with riders completing his final ride.

A “ghost bike” honoring Aleksander Teimouri was put in place Thursday at the intersection of Rochester and Haine School roads in Cranberry Township. Teimouri, 22, was struck by an alleged drunken driver Dec. 26 as he was riding his bicycle home from work on Rochester Road. He was found to be brain dead at the scene, but was kept on life support for several days until recipients for organ transplants could be found.

Those transplants took place early Saturday morning. The “ghost bike” serves as a symbol of remembrance for cyclists who have died, and aims to remind drivers to be attentive to those on bikes. Teimouri's bike was adorned with messages from loved ones and was put in place following a Mass of Christian burial Thursday at St. Ferdinand Catholic Parish in Cranberry. A memorial ride in Teimouri's honor is scheduled to depart from Graham Park in Cranberry at 12:30 p.m. Sunday.
