Clara Margaret (Peg) Bovard Tiberi

Clara Margaret (Peg) Bovard Tiberi, formerly of Butler, passed away Sunday.

She was born Nov. 15, 1927, in Cherry Township, Slippery Rock, to David Leland Bovard and Clara Lavina Taylor Bovard. For the last several years, she has lived with her daughter and son in Pittsburgh.

Peg was a graduate of West Sunbury High School and Butler Hospital School of Nursing.

She began her career at West Sunbury School District as a traveling nurse. She began work at Butler County Memorial Hospital in 1949, where she worked as a nurse until her retirement in 1991.

She married Thomas John Tiberi Sr. and had five children, Mary Kay (David Goldstein) Morrow, Jeffrey (Victoria Shortt), Susan (Rex) Waldenmyer, Thomas Tiberi Jr. and Patricia (Anne Graham) Tiberi.

Growing up near Institute Hill playground, Peg’s children brought their own cuts and scrapes as well as those of neighboring children to see “Mrs. Tiberi, the Nurse.”

She had seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Peg was an active member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), BCMH Nurses Alumni, and the Business & Professional Women’s Club and volunteered in the genealogy section of the Butler Public Library.

She was an avid genealogist, loved cooking, quilting, knitting, traveling and caregiving.

She was a member of St. Paul Roman Catholic Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings and her husband.
