CLAY TWP — An alleged drunken driver is accused of causing nearly $1,300 in damage after he allegedly used his pickup truck to do “doughnuts” in a cornfield.

Chester E. Gladd Jr., 25, of Boyers was more than twice the state's legal limit for alcohol and on drugs Oct. 24, state police said, when they found him in a Dodge Ram at the bottom of the cornfield on the 900 block of Mahood Road.

Troopers said they were called about 11 p.m. for a report of a truck vandalizing crops and found “a single entry point” into the field.

Gladd faces a hearing next month on a list of criminal and traffic charges related to the incident.
