A horrific shooting at Pittsburgh's Tree of Life synagogue left 11 dead and sent both ripples of sorrow and the accused killer up to Butler County.

A few days after the shooting, various church congregations from around Butler gathered at Butler's Congregation B'nai Abraham for an interfaith service. The Butler synagogue is associated with the Tree of Life, and several members and leaders knew those who were killed or wounded.

The service filled the pews, extra chairs and standing room at B'nai Abraham with visitors. The crowd listened to words from various pastors as well as Cantor Michal Gray-Schaffer.

Filled with mourning and optimism, the crowd spilled out onto Main Street and marched downtown with candles in hand.

Meanwhile, the cause of all the sorrow, accused shooter Robert G. Bowers, 46, was booked into the Butler County Prison, but little affect has been felt. The community was already healing and has handled him without any reported incident.
