Cranberry man charged, cyclist hurt in DUI wreck

A car vs. bicycle accident near the intersection of Rochester and Haine School roads late Wednesday resulted in charges for a Cranberry Township man.

CRANBERRY TWP — A township man is facing aggravated assault and DUI charges after allegedly striking a cyclist and dragging him, causing severe injuries.

David W. Lohr, 51, of Cranberry Township, is charged with felony aggravated assault by a vehicle while DUI and misdemeanor DUI: highest rate of alcohol, DUI: general impairment of driving safely and reckless driving.

The charges stem from a Wednesday incident when police were called to the area of Rochester and Haine School roads just after 11:30 p.m. for a report of a car versus bicycle crash. According to the affidavit of probable cause, officers arrived and found the driver of the bicycle on the sidewalk, bleeding from the head. He was not alert, and the injuries appeared severe.

Lohr was taken to Butler County Prison for arraignment, and documents indicate a $10,000 unsecured bond was set.

As of Thursday morning, the condition of the victim was not known.
