Thomas Edward Yancik

Thomas Edward Yancik, 74, of Butler, formerly of Mount Olive, Ill., passed away Nov. 6 in the VNA Inpatient Hospice Unit in Butler.

Born Jan. 11, 1944, in Litchfield, Ill., he was the son of the late Joseph John Yancik and Anna Lorraine Gilbach Yancik.

He married Phyllis Ann Tannehill on July 31, 1971, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Litchfield.

Thomas attended Holy Trinity Grade School and graduated from Mount Olive High School in 1961.

He was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Father Knaperek Knights of Columbus 8716 and Slovak Association in Mount Olive. He later attended St. Peters Catholic Church in Butler.

He enlisted in the U.S. Army as a private and began active duty in 1961 and remained active in the reserves until 1969.

Thomas was a member of Midstate Motorcycle Club in White City, Ill.

He began his career for Hano Business Forms in Mount Olive, Ill., Springfield, Mass., and Conyers, Ga., and went on to Service Business Forms in Wichita, Kan. He advanced to vice president of manufacturing for Wise Business Forms in Alpharetta, Ga., and in Butler.

He enjoyed woodworking, golfing, watching the Pittsburgh Steelers football team and the Penguins hockey team.

Thomas is survived by his wife, Phyllis Ann Yancik of Butler; two sons, Scott Thomas Yancik of Butler, and Matthew Joseph Yancik of East Butler; three brothers, Joseph (Rosemary) Yancik of McLean, Va.; Charles (Shirley) Yancik of Mount Olive, Ill., and James (Dorothy) Yancik of Benton, Ill.; and four sisters, Virginia (Dick) Kloss of Glen Carbon, Ill., Loretta (Ed) Enlow of Rio Rancho, N.M., Judy (Joe) Ellis of Golden, Colo., and Linda Erdelyi of South Bend, Ind.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph John and Anna Lorraine Gilbach Yancik; one brother, Richard Yancik; two sisters, Alice (Jack) Ballweg and MaryAnn (Bill) Harmening; and one brother-in-law, Frank Erdleyi.

YANCIK — A memorial Mass for Thomas Edward Yancik, who died Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2018, will be celebrated in the spring at St. John Paul II in Mount Olive, Ill.He will be buried at the Holy Trinity Cemetery in Mount Olive, Ill.Following the Mass, a luncheon for family and friends will be served by the Altar & Rosary Society and will be held at the St. John Paul II Hall.Memorial donations may be made to VNA Inpatient Hospice, 115 Technology Drive, Butler, PA 16001, or Holy Trinity Cemetery, Mount Olive, Illinois.Memorials can be sent c/o Becker & Son Funeral Home, 221 S.
