BUTLER TOWNSHIP — Bustling shoppers were surprised Saturday by random acts of Christmas kindness.

Stephanie Kish, founder of the Sage Collector in Butler, with some help from members of the Butler High School swim and dive team gave unsuspecting people shopping in Butler Commons gifts she purchased with casino winnings.

She said there are two reasons for the random gift giveaway.

“We are just wishing people Merry Christmas,” Kish said.

The second is to help people learn about Sage Collector and the foster children the organization helps.

Each of the 400 gifts came with a tag with some information about her organization, which spreads awareness about foster care and assists foster and at-risk youth. The tag contains the Sage Collector website, which explains the organization's mission and Saturday's gift giving.
