Vincent A. “Sam” Litz, 78, of Butler passed away on Monday at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh.

Born May 6, 1940, in Butler, he was a son of the late Michael and Verna Newcaster Litz.

He was a welder for Butler Armco. He retired in 1996 following 37 years of service.

Sam enjoyed restoring vintage automobiles and traveling throughout the country with his family in their RV. He enjoyed traveling to Europe and was a member of a senior softball league. Sam was a Boy Scout leader.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

Surviving are his wife, Georgia McKindree Litz, whom he married Feb. 2, 1963; his son, Ronald (Dawn Marie Nou) Litz of Virginia; his daughter, Jennifer (Brad) Petrus of Pittsburgh; two grandchildren, Delia and Arlo Petrus; a brother, Joseph (Dolores) Litz of Butler; and a sister, Shirley (Donald) McCune of Butler; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

LITZ — There will be a private family visitation for Vincent A. “Sam” Litz, who died Monday, Nov. 19, 2018.A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, 128 N. McKean St., Butler.Entombment will follow at Calvary Mausoleum.Arrangements have been completed by Geibel Funeral Home, 201 E.
