ALLEGHENY TWP — A teenager is accused of attacking an employee last week at a northern Butler County juvenile detention facility.

Diamond A. Coleman, 18, is charged with felony and misdemeanor assault in connection with the Dec. 5 altercation at Western PA Child Care on Route 38 in Allegheny Township.

In an arrest warrant Wednesday, state police accused Coleman of throwing a filled water bottle at a female staff member. The bottle hit the employee in the chest.

The teen also allegedly punched the same employee multiple times in the face and scratched her face.

The attack occurred, according to court documents, after the staff member asked Coleman to go to her room.

Other employees helped separate the defendant from the victim, police said, and restrain her. The staff member was injured, including scratches to her face and forehead and red marks on her cheeks and face.

The staff member told troopers that she and other staff members have had “continued issues with Coleman not listening and lashing out,” a police affidavit said.

Documents noted that the defendant is at the detention facility for numerous juvenile offenses in Erie County.

Mid-Atlantic Youth Services owns the secured facility that houses males and females from ages 16 to 21 who have been placed there following court disposition of their juvenile cases.

Coleman is charged with aggravated assault, simple assault and harassment.
