Woman claims to have been assaulted
JACKSON TWP — Police have arrested a Greenville man for allegedly assaulting a woman, grabbing her by the hair and attempting to pull her back into his car.
Police initially responded to reports of a woman walking in traffic near the Speedway convenience store, where they met her near midnight Thursday.
She told officers that her boyfriend, John Robert Aicher, 21, of Greenville, had assaulted her and grabbed her by the hair, not allowing her to go into the store, documents state.
She managed to get in the store, but he reportedly followed her in and tried to drag her out. She said she was trying to get away from him and “felt in fear for her well-being,” documents state.
The woman told police that Aicher was “on parole” and “could be violent.”
A witness reportedly confirmed that he had tried to drag the woman out of the store. At the time charges were filed, officers were still waiting to receive video surveillance from security cameras in the store.
Aicher fled the scene before police arrived, but later returned to the store, documents state.
He reportedly admitted to police to grabbing the woman while in the store and said he “was trying to get her back in the car to go home.”
Aicher denied grabbing her by the hair, documents state.
Police arrested him and took him to the Butler County jail, where he has been since the night of the incident. His bail is set at $1,500.
Aicher is charged with assault and harassment.
He also is currently on probation for burglary charges.
His preliminary hearing is set for Dec. 18.
