Eugene William “Gene” Palmer
Eugene William “Gene” Palmer, 80, of Slippery Rock and formerly of Cambridge Springs, Pa., passed away at Grove City Medical Center in Grove City on Sunday.
He was born Oct. 30, 1938, in Meadville, Pa., to Eugene K. Palmer and Dorothy Daughenbaugh Palmer.
He was a truck driver and began his driving career for Kroger Grocery. Later, after retiring, he followed his working career with Yellow Freight located in Detroit, Mich.
Gene was proud of his service as a U.S. Marine Corps veteran.
He was tough and hard-working. He always had a project that he was working on. He enjoyed fellowship and helping friends. He was very able and did his work very well.
Gene was of the Catholic faith.
Gene is survived by two daughters, Eugina Jackson of Lakeland, Fla., and Patricia Malcolm of Gulf Breeze, Fla.; two sons, Vincent Palmer of Beaver Falls and Steven Palmer of Virginia; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
PALMER — Friends of Eugene William “Gene” Palmer, who died Sunday, Nov. 4, 2018, will be received from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Smith Funeral Home, 421 New Castle St., Slippery Rock.A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, 670 S. Main St., Slippery Rock, with the Rev. Steven Neff presiding.Interment will be in Venango Cemetery in Crawford County.
