Chalmers R. Richardson

Chalmers R. Richardson, 94, of Connoquenessing Township passed away on Sunday while under the care of the VNA Inpatient Hospice.

Born Feb. 29, 1924, in Evans City, he was the son of the late Chalmers C. Richardson and Marie McCandless Richardson.

Chalmers proudly served our country in the U.S. Navy.

He was a buyer for ServiceStar for over 20 years, until his retirement in 1989.

He was a faithful member of Westminster United Presbyterian Church in Evans City, where he served as an elder, sang in the church choir and taught Sunday school.

He devoted 12 years to serving on the Evans City Council. He formerly served on the school boards for Southwest Butler County and Seneca Valley. Chalmers was the first president of the Evans City Lions Club and a member of the Dirty Dozen. He also belonged to Harmony Masonic Lodge 429.

In his free time, Chalmers enjoyed golfing and cheering on all Pittsburgh sports teams. He will be dearly missed.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife of 70 years, Helen Nicklas Richardson, whom he married on Jan. 1, 1948; his children, Linda Michael and her husband, Terry, of Prince George, Va., Terri Lefevre of Butler, Beth Aven and her husband, Robert, of Fredericksburg, Va., and Susan Richardson of Raleigh, N.C.; and his five grandchildren, Scott, David, Ross, Danielle and Sebastian.

In addition to his parents, Chalmers was preceded in death by three sisters.

RICHARDSON — Friends of Chalmers R. Richardson, who died Sunday, Nov. 4, 2018, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Boylan Funeral Home & Cremation Center of Connoquenessing Township, 856 Evans City Road, Renfrew.A funeral ceremony will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home with the Rev. Dr. Tom Harmon officiating.Chalmers will be laid to rest at Butler County Memorial Park.Memorial donations may be made in his honor to the Westminster United Presbyterian Church, 330 E. Main St., Evans City, PA 16033, or to VNA Inpatient Hospice, 115 Technology Dr., Butler, PA 16001, or to a charity of the donor's choice.Expressions of sympathy may be shared with the family at www.boylanfuneralservices.com.
