Alvin L. Garmer

Alvin L. “Al” Garmer, 85, of Frazer Township passed away Saturday at West Penn Hospital in Pittsburgh.

Al was born Sept. 13, 1933, in Saxonburg, to the late Arthur and Ruth Felsing Garmer.

He graduated from East Deer-Frazer High School in 1951. He served in the Army. He worked at Equitable Gas Co. as a corrosion expert. He retired in 1996, after 38 years.

Al attended the Springdale Open Bible Church and was a member of the Outdoor Life Lodge, Fawn Township, and the Natrona Heights VFW. He was a gentleman farmer and enjoyed cutting grass, making homemade ice cream and apple cider, tractor rides, antique tractors, garage and estate sales, his Stanley tools, square dancing, where he met his wife, and doing dove releases for special occasions.

Al is survived by his wife of five years: Bertha A. Ricketts Garmer; his children, Jeff (Colette) Garmer of Tarentum, Alan Garmer of New Bethlehem, and Daniel L. (Nadine) Wise of Worthington; four grandchildren, Cameron, Elaine, Kelly and Delaney Garmer; and his siblings: Arthur (Shirley) Garmer of Springdale, and Theda (Loyal) Fredley of West Deer Township.

Garmer — Family and friends of Alvin L. Garmer, who died Saturday, Oct. 27, 2018, are invited to celebrate Alvin's life from 2 to 5 p.m. Tuesday at the ROBERT PETERS FUNERAL HOME, 1521 Freeport Road, Natrona Heights.Services will follow at 5 p.m. with the Reverends Rick and Cindy Fiore officiating.Burial will be private.For online condolences and more information please visit us at www.petersfamilyfuneralhomes.com.
