Police: Man pointed gun at deer hunter
A 63-year-old man was arrested for allegedly pointing a loaded handgun at a hunter Monday morning in an apparent property line dispute on Pennsylvania's opening day of rifle deer season.
Russell J. Barkley Jr. is charged with felony and misdemeanor assault in the incident that happened about 10 a.m. near his home on West Park Road in Muddy Creek Township.
The victim told police that he believed he was hunting on Moraine State Park property when he shot a deer, according to court documents.
While field dressing the animal, he said the defendant drove through the woods and pulled up beside him in a pickup truck.
An argument ensued over property lines, police said, during which Barkley allegedly pulled a revolver.
Both men called 911 after the incident. A search of his wheelchair, documents said, turned up a .38 Special revolver loaded with six bullets. Troopers said they also seized a plastic bag containing suspected marijuana.
