Dr. Edward Davis Grohman
Dr. Edward Davis Grohman, 87, of Knoxville, Tenn., formerly of Butler, passed away on Sept. 12.
He was a graduate of Butler Senior High School.
Ed went on to graduate from Grove City College, with a Bachelor of Arts degree, Pittsburgh-Xenia Theological Seminary, with a Master of Divinity, the University of Tennessee, with a Master of Science, and Johns Hopkins University, with a Ph.D. in Semitic languages.
Ed taught at Pittsburgh Theological Seminary and then Knoxville College for over 30 years.
He was a member of the Presbytery of East Tennessee. He attended Graystone Presbyterian Church, where he had sung in the choir since 1969 and also taught Sunday school.
Ed and his late wife, Sara, spent most of 40 summers in Great Britain.
He was an accomplished flutist and very active in the Knoxville music community.
He is survived by his brother, Dr. Don Grohman of Chattanooga, Tenn.; and two sisters in California, Margaret Burns and Elizabeth Rowett.
Ed was preceded in death by his wife, Sara Emma Grohman; his sister, Jean Grohman; and his parents, Earl and Genevieve Grohman.
GROHMAN — A celebration of life service for Dr. Edward Davis Grohman, who died Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2018, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 27, 2018, at Graystone Presbyterian Church, 139 Woodlawn Pike, Knoxville, Tenn.Arrangements were entrusted to Berry Funeral Home, Knoxville, Tenn.In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that contributions be made to the Deacons' Fund at the Graystone Presbyterian Church.
